Two popular court cases have decided that cemeteries could not refuse the customer his/her rights to have an outside source provide and/or install (including the foundation) a memorial as long as reasonable rules, regulations and specifications were met. This also applies to cemeteries who state that the sale of the lot and installation of the memorial are part of a single package that the customer bought. Cemeteries that force the consumer to buy a monument from them may be in violation of federal anti-trust laws.
